Congratulations, Sitel Barkada! We have reached our one-million-point target in the Step Forward, Give Back Challenge. And we’re just half-way through the month.

As we have pledged in the beginning, Sitel Group is donating $15,000 to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the foremost organization protecting underprivileged children around the world, when one million points is reached in United Heroes. To all those who stepped forward so we can give back, thank you very much!

This donation couldn’t have come at a better time, as children are among the hardest hit by the strains of the COVID-19 pandemic. UNICEF estimates that the number of children living in impoverished households may rise from 586 million in 2019 to 690 million by the end of 2020. Our donation will help UNICEF carry on with its projects, such as health education among families and communities, building handwashing stations, and promotion of vaccination.

At the onset, we gave ourselves one month (August 1 to 31) to achieve our goal. But you seemed to realize the importance of time in a crisis like what we have now, and delivered on our goal in a record time of 12 days, along with the entire Sitel community all around the world.

Although we have reached our global goal, the Step Forward, Give Back Challenge continues locally with the Super User and Top Site Challenges. You can find the full mechanics of both challenges in this MAX Connect article:

These local challenges are meaningful because the winning site gets to donate to a charity of their choice. Of course, all of those points will add up to our #OneSmallChange goal of 10 million points by the end of 2020.

When we launched Sitelfit in 2018, we were looking for a way to foster a sense of community among the 80,000 Sitel employees from around the world. The Step Forward, Give Back Challenge proves we were not wrong in choosing sports as our common language. Small changes, when collectively done, do create lasting impact on lives.
