Sitel Palawan and the City Public Employment Office in Puerto Princesa have lined up initiatives that will generate more jobs in the city.

On January 20, Darrell Jay Maon, Sitel Academy University and Community Partnership Ambassador, met with Demetrio Lopez, City PESO Manager and other officials to renew Sitel Palawan’s partnership with the local government.

During the meeting, Maon and the City PESO officials discussed holding an online job fair and a webinar for job-seekers in Puerto Princesa early February.  Through these activities, Sitel Palawan hopes to find candidates mainly among displaced tourism workers and former overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The two organizations also talked about Sitel’s participation in the City PESO’s JobStart program, which trains applicants and endorses them to companies.

Puerto Princesa’s local economy, heavily reliant on the tourism industry, has been severely affected by the pandemic. Since the start of community quarantine last year, Sitel Palawan has been hiring displaced tourist guides and other tourism and hospitality workers, earning the local government’s recognition. The BPO leader has also opened smaller branches called MAXhubs, allowing associates to work near their homes.
