Last June 11, eve of Independence Day, a team from Sitel Baguio visited Regional Haven for Women and Girls, a home in Baguio City run by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The facility provides temporary shelter to female survivors of abuse and exploitation.

The team — composed of Eugene Juan, Senior Operations Manager; and Rose Ann Lucenio, Workforce Coordinator —  brought with them donations for the facility’s residents, 15 bags each containing a pajama set, a wrist watch, and toiletries.

The money used to buy the donations came from the sales made during two MAX Kapwa fundraising activities held in March in celebration of Women’s Month.

The first activity, the Silent Art Auction, sold six paintings by Sitel Baguio associates. The auction was done online, at Sitel Baguio’s private social media group. For every sold painting, a percentage was donated to the fund.

On the other hand, the Sweet Relief for Women in Need sold baked goods made by Sitel Baguio associates. The activity was done online at the Kabarkada Online Marketplace, a social media group, and offered a variety of pastries, such as chocolate crinkles, revel bars, brownies, macaroons, and cupcakes; as well as meat dishes like smoked ribs, chicken and tuna.  A portion of each sale also went to the donation fund.

Both activities ran from March 15 to 26 and raised a total fund of Php24,850.

In a Workplace post, Eugene thanked all the Sitel Baguio associates who participated in the activities. “Giving back to the community is an integral part of Sitel Baguio’s culture.”
