Leading BPO company, Sitel Group® in the Philippines bags Gold at the recently concluded Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards as Most Exemplary Employer for its COVID-19 response. The prestigious award-giving body lauded the organization’s innovation and agility amidst the challenges of the pandemic.
The award highlights the efforts of the recently integrated Sitel Group® and Sykes Enterprises, Inc., and how it kept its more than 40,000 employees in the Philippines safe amidst the different difficulties that the lockdown and pandemic has posed.
Prioritizing our Associate’s Well-being
In compliance with international and local standards (World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health, and Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases), Sitel Group implemented various measures to support its employees into the “new normal”. They collaborated with health experts to protect and preserve employee wellbeing, rolling out programs such as SYKES Armor, offering free vaccines for their associates and dependents. They also partnered with various health providers for the COVID-19 Home Care Management Program, where employees and their COVID-19 affected households can receive medical support such as consultations, tests, and supplies. Telemedicine consultations were also made available, as well as access to Mental Health Support through webinars and online activities.
Providing a Safe Working Environment for All
During nationwide lockdowns, SYKES and Sitel® Philippines were quick to respond to the business needs, providing the necessary support for its associates to work in a safe environment. They implemented their work-from-home programs, Sitel® at Home and SYKESHome, providing associates PC sets, wi-fi kits, ergonomic chairs, and additional allowances to ensure that they can work comfortably even outside of the office. Sitel Philippines also had its MAXhubs, which were accessible working spaces for employees in the provinces. The hubs offered a safe working space and fast internet connection, allowing associates to work with ease and comfort. On the other hand, SYKES also had its SYKES Camp program, providing meals, supplies, shuttle services, and free lodging spaces for its work on-site associates. They also rolled out a comprehensive virtual course, Ready, Safe, Go: SYKES Readiness Plan, to educate their associates of the national guidelines, health protocols, and safety requirements as they work amidst the COVID-19 lockdowns.
As for their on-site safety, they implemented standardized site management programs, working on rigid sanitation and safety protocols for their offices, all in compliance with the national government’s public health standards.
Supporting our Employee Needs
Every employee has a different need, and despite the difficulties of mobility, Sitel Group worked its best to provide support for its associates. They have made financial aids available to its people, giving associates easy access and guidance on different loan options, company incentives, advance crediting of bonuses, and leave conversions. They also set up the HR Online Employee (ONE) Support, providing remote assistance for associates through online video communication platform.
As a way to boost their employee morale, they also held virtual employee engagement activities, promoting work-life balance and camaraderie through employee events and programs.
