Two training programs by the Sitel Academy-University and Community Partnership Program (UCP) are giving job-seekers in Baguio City and Benguet towns a chance at rewarding careers in Sitel.
Launched in May, the Sitel Academy Barangay Amazing Race (BAR) and BLISTT Circuit (BC) are giving participants a free five-day training to prepare them for jobs in Sitel Baguio. Lessons include communication skills, confidence building, among others. After graduation, participants are assessed and processed by Sitel Baguio’s recruitment team for possible hiring.
The participants come from Baguio City for BAR; and five municipalities in Benguet, namely, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, Tublay – collectively known as BLISTT, along with Baguio – for the BC.
Many of them are fresh graduates and employees who lost their jobs because of the pandemic, said Sheryll Trajano, Learning Specialist at Sitel Academy –UCP. The BAR and BC help them by bringing the training right at the villages and towns where they live, she added.
The training programs are held in partnership with the local governments of Baguio City and Benguet, particularly the Public Employment Services Offices (PESO), and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).
Since their launch, a total of 52 participants have graduated from the two programs, all of which are currently being processed by Sitel Baguio’s recruitment team. Two classes, one in Ucab Village in Itogon and another in Santa Escolastica Village in Baguio City, are currently on-going, said Trajano.
The Sitel Academy-UCP is planning to bring the training programs to the rest of 128 villages in Baguio City and other Benguet towns.
